This months manga review Midori discusses Soul Eater
This month we cover the non-existent musical sensation, Miku Hatsune!
Yet another forum topic is bad pranks. It seems in Japan they can't get enough of bad prank.
This is our first time with this feature, but it's so easy to find hundreds of these videos. For our first AMV feature it will be AMV featuring Weird Al Yankovic.
*Sorry it took so long to post...Midori's computers...yes all of them...crapped out the same week. Sorry folks!
Well we have no guest hosts this time. I swear it's all part of a complex plan and totally not laziness on my part. We throw out another contest idea, talk about news and review Cromartie High School. Enjoy!
~Neokage
Continuing from where we last left off we still have Animucast on as well as the the Gay Nerd!
In this episode we answer questions and talk about a show that's all about the sex...but totally cops out cause there's no sex...enjoy!
~Neokage
We just wanted to thank Sean Alpha for nominating us for a Parsec Award. Neokage worked hard creating an entry so we can go to the next step in the award process. We also would like to ask our fans to vote for us on their website. As far as we are concerned we have already won, but this is for you guys as well..go to their site and vote for The Otaku Momentum for your favorite!
The ADD Network will be recording this months Dysfunction and the topic is Pre-Playstation Video Games. If you sat up for hours with your bag of chips and a bottle of Jolt playing Zelda, Mario Bros., Space Invaders, Wizards and Warriors just to name a few; then this one is dedicated to you!
If you listened to epidsode 28 resently, you heard from our guest, Thomas Matis. Thomas graces the presence not only on a few of his own podcasts, but he is also on SHAFT as well. Thomas is a god among geeks.
Calling all Spiderman fans!! Young and old...Spiderman appeals to all ages.
Thomas tackles reviews on the series "Spectacular Spiderman" which is on the WB.
This is a great podcast if you are into those old Godzilla movies. Tokyo S.O.S.
is specifically all about Godzilla. It is a known fact that Neokage and Midori
are super fans of campy films and if you like campy, some of the older Godzilla
movies are just that. Now go....check out their latest episode #4.
Shaft or Super Happy Anime Fun Time is amongst the ranks of some of the best
anime podcasts on the interwebs. They are also one of the only video podcasts as well.
They don't claim to be experts, just fans. Thomas invades SHAFT every Monday with sometimes
a review and sometimes something anime related. Whether you check out Thomas' feature or you
just go to SHAFT and watch an anime review...it truly lives up to it's name..Super Happy Anime Fun Time.
"Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose is concidered by Thomas to be one of the best
comic books out right now. It seems very dark and has some spectacular art!
Thomas and Lorrie have put out their first episode of the podcast dedicated to
this comic. Check out the podcast and if you like what you hear, maybe you
just might find yourself a new addiction. :O)
...The Manga page has a new review!! Midori has been really busy, but she made sure she got on the review right away! The review is on one of The Otaku Momentum's admitted favorites, Great Teacher Onizuka.
If you haven't read it or seen the anime, it's a really funny story about a 19 year old ex-biker gang member Onizuka who happens to be a virgin and is trying to find himself a girlfriend. Where does he look for said girlfriend; you ask? Why high school of course!! By becoming a high school teacher!! Did you see that coming??
Go check out the review and hop on your favorite sites and purchase a copy of GTO...it's a riot!!
Next in store for the fun page is an AMV page, fan page and a contest page. If you have fan art (doesn't have to be The Otaku Momentum related) send it to Midori and she can post it.
The topics for the month have been decided and here they are: Music will be on Miku Hatsune, Manga(though not on the fun page) will be Soul Eater, AMV will be Weird Al Yankovic themed videos. The contest is in the works....details coming soon and the prize is not decided yet. Midori should be posting everything starting the end of this week, so check back soon.
For anyone who was into the Youtubes page, don't panic if you don't see it on our links. The Youtubes page is still up ...it just migrated to the T.O.M. Fun Page. If you go to it, there is a link specifically to take you to the Youtubes article for the month. This month is Pocky...dedicated to all the forum fans whom had a great discussion on how much we all <3 POCKY!!
Know that the con season is underway, it got me thinking, what about Japanese
festivals in the US. I wanted to explore the idea of Japanese festivals for those
who can't afford that trip to Japan.
In St. Louis, Missouri you can find the US's longest running Japanese festival.
Since 1977, the Missouri Botanical Garden has hosted a Japanese culture festival.
Not only is it the oldest Japanese festival, but it is also the nations oldest
botanical garden. Founded in 1859, it's not only beautiful, it's a living
piece of history. The festival takes place Labor Day weekend which for many
people is very convenient. September 4-6 for only $15 go and enjoy many of the
great things the Japanese culture has to offer.
In the true tradition of summers, the anime this summer is a bit lacking. Lacking in the sense of how much is coming out. There are a few shows that look worth taking a look at. You be the judge though...check out the link for Chart Fag in our links to the right to see what's coming out.
Whether you agree or not, the "Non-Existent Youth" Bill has been shot down by the entire Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly. So if you like loli nipples, read on...for now anyway. This bill would have put a stop on "youth" in suggestive situations not only in manga, but also anime, games and memorabilia.

Midori went to Texas recently and wanted to bring back some fun stuff to share with everyone. She really didn't get to go to everything she wanted too, but she took plenty of pictures so everyone could enjoy the view.
Though she didn't get to go to as many "otaku" related things,
she did get to go to a Japanese garden.
The garden was located right where you wouldn't expect something so beautiful, right smack in the middle of Fort Worth, Texas.
Midori has some pictures on facebook if you feel like checking those out.
She did manage to get some sushi in while down there and she said, "..OMG it was amazing!" The one real big bummer was that Midori was unable to go to this free Japanese/Chinese art and culture exhibit called The Crow Collection. If you go to the website, you can see why exactly she was at least a little bummed. When we started the Moe Contest, we were looking for something fun to use on the T.O.M. Contest Page and hoped people would get really into it, but she sent such a great submission that it was no contest.
Once again she blew us away not only by the effort she poured into the project, but the shear talent in the art work she presented. Heck, people were even fighting on the forum to have themselves added to the mix!! We just want to thank her again a million times over for such a wonderful job. Here is a look at her character layouts....
..if you want to read her story, go to our forums under the Contest board..if you aren't signed up...by all means..do so!
